When it comes to her poetry, Kakie writes to explore the human experience as it relates to the natural, spiritual, and religious world (and to make the world feel a little less confusing and heavy). Topics such as mental and physical health (and the lack thereof) as well as elements of place come into play at times to help explore human to human, human to self, and human to nature relationships.
Her debut collection of poetry, Under the Honey Locusts, is forthcoming from Cornerstone Press, UWSP in February 2026. The book is now available for preorder here.
Kakie earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College in May 2021. She has worked as the head poetry editor for Redivider, as well as a social media manager and poetry reader for Autofocus. Her work has been published in Dialogist Journal, Rock & Sling, Poet Lore, Eunoia Review, and Entropy, among others. She grew up in Richmond, Virginia but now lives across the pond in London, England. She loves books, yoga, wine, travel, and any holiday.
